Monkeys, temples, rice paddies, cultural arts, and delicious food says it all.
Start the day looking for monkeys in the Sacred Monkey Forest Ubud Sanctuary then walk North back to Ubud town via the Monkey Forest road, there’s much to look at in this km stretch. Stop half way back at the Three Monkeys Cafe and leave the hubbub of the street, for refreshments with views of rice paddies.
There are plenty of shops but you must stop at Kou Cuisine Ubud gift shop. Then nearby Ibu Rai Restaurant one of the trendiest Indonesian restaurants in Ubud. Sit with white tablecloths in a huge high-roofed balinese timber building or ‘warung’. The food is Indonesian for the tourist’s eye.
When you continue North again and reach Raya Ubud road you will notice more historic sites and more traditional buildings. Pura Desa Ubud ( Balinise Temple ) is on the corner, and so is Ubud markets. Get lost there and when you are ready for more local tastes, continue North from that corner along Suweta road and turn right into Tegal Sari road, and at the end you will find two Balinese restaurants, the Babi Gulings, one is Ibu Oka Babi Guling,Ubud-Bali, that specialise in the spit roast suckling pig. Drool!
Spend the evening watching traditional Balinese dancers at several places around Ubud. Transcend to a place of relaxation and wonder.
Repeat.
