It's Spring! Be sure to witness the Canberra’s spectacular Floriade festival held at Commonwealth Park on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin only a 3 hour drive from Sydney. It’s blooming great!
Grab a quality brunch at Mocan & Green Grout on the inner fringe of hip Acton precinct, once you see the rainbow-coloured deck chair you are there! Walk 10 minutes to Floriade and wander the bright floral murals and pop-up entertainment.
Walk north from Floriade on the City Walk and stop to admire crafty arts at Handmade Canberra. Refuel on locally sourced produce at Kindle cafe. On the walk northwards, ride the famous Civic Merry Go Round ride if you’re with the kids or a big kid yourself.
Be sure to also visit Australian-owned chocolate shop KokoBlack Chocolate in the Canberra Centre. Don’t miss Impact Comics and Landspeed Records to hunt for local-made Aussie music. The Canberra-grown fashion store to checkout is Parliament Clothing.
There are lots of outdoor dining options around Bunda Street or north further on Lonsdale and Mort streets in trendy Braddon precinct. Lonsdale Street Roasters 23 or Lonsdale Street Roasters 7 are the places to buy some custom beans to take home. If you are staying overnight, a block further is local Bentspoke Brewing Co. There’s something for everyone in this fair country’s fair capital.
