Family Fun day around Brisbane Australia

Start the Springtime school holidays with a day trip from Brisbane strawberry picking and beach time at Redland Bay. Drive North to Rolin Farms to handpick your very own punnet of juicy, sweet strawberries. Get lost in the moment amongst the rows of red gems and white blossoms. Open everyday in Spring.

Then take your bounty and drive east to Redland bay for a seashore picnic and some beach play at Suttons Beach. For less sand in your toes and crystal clear swimming, also try Settlement Cove Lagoon a short walk North along The Parade. There are also great playgrounds for all ages under shady trees.

If you can’t resist fish and chips while you’re by the bay, Yabbey Road is in the strip of shops along the parade. Take the kids out onto the historical Redcliffe Jetty built in 1884 and almost 300 metres long. The kids will love filling their water bottle at the start of the jetty, with free filtered water out of the unique vending machine with the sea turtle on it, a city initiative to save plastic. There are also plenty of wild sea birds to spot and more beaches beyond.

Grab a photo next to the new life-size bronze statues of the Bee Gees, Australia’s most iconic band in Bee Gees Way opened recently in honour of their home-grown roots. Finish the day at Fudge Me, the brimming lolly shop, or find an ice cream at one of the many shops and cafes on Redcliffe Parade. The perfectly sweet and salty day trip for the family these school holidays.
