The ultimate night out in Barcelona, according to WunderWalk app founder, Kat, is in Old Town.
Wander the narrow gothic streets between a flamenco show towards tapas bars and the famous cava bars serving Spanish sparkling wine. The Palau Dalmases Espay Barroc has amazing ambience by night with stone walls and archways, a setting straight out of the medieval era. Candles and lanterns set the scene for the flamenco dance performance of stomping feet, swirling hands, and rhythmic acoustic guitar and voice. The dresses are gorgeous as they swish and swirl, and the male dancers feet fly like pistons. Ole!
There are quite a few delicious tapas bars in Old Town offering traditional or modern servings. Kat’s favourite was Bubó by day a french patisserie, by night a casual bar with alfresco dining.
Onto the famous cava bar, El Xampenet (Catalan 'x' pronounced 'sh') with rustic decor of wine skins and barrels. The place is narrow and gets busy so it’s recommended to go late or early to grab a stool. Servings of hearty high calorie portions and noisy bar chatter give you the real deal.
